I’m the daughter of Chicago natives. My dad joined the military right out of high school and married my mom shortly after. As young newlyweds, they journeyed to Germany on military orders. There in Germany, I was born. After a couple of years in Germany, the ARMY’s next assignment for my family was Washington state – where my brother was born and where we lived for almost 15 years. Yes, 15 years! To live in one place in the military for longer than a few years is pretty much unheard of…but I am fortunate to say that I ‘grew up’ some place.
Texas Roots | Saved by Grace
My family relocated to Texas {Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex} in 1999, shortly after my dad retired from the ARMY. I now consider Texas my home. I was driving behind an F-150 one day with a bumper sticker that read, I wasn’t born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could. This made me chuckle, because that’s exactly how I feel. I finished high school & went to college here in Texas. In college, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. And my life has never been the same. I thank God for choosing me.
The Body of Christ | Love, Marriage & a Baby Carriage
In 2008, the Lord led me to an amazing body of believers at One Community Church. At One, I met my love – my life partner – Quentin Q {I rarely call him Quentin}. In October 2009, Q and I were married before God, our family, and friends. I can’t forget to mention that Q came as a package deal – him AND his daughter, Kendall. Kendall is definitely a 20 year old trapped in a 7 year old’s body…but we love her…of course. 😉 For those of you who are married, you understand what a wild ride marriage can sometimes take you on – but also how rewarding, life-changing, and sanctifying it is. I’ve never been stretched this much in my life, but I wouldn’t trade this love and beautiful experience in for anything or anyone else.
Our Wedding Day | October 4, 2009 |
On September 17, 2013, Q and I welcomed our sweet baby girl, Ryann Olivia. Becoming a mother is one of the most rewarding roles I’ve ever held. She is the joy of my life. I didn’t think I had the capacity to love another person as much as I love her.
The Inspiration Behind Selfless Ambition
The older I get, the faster life seems to move. With every birthday, holiday, and major milestone, there lies this sobering reminder that life truly is but a vapor. Selfless Ambition is simply about capturing and reflecting on moments in time, no matter how insignificant. It’s about recalling God’s grace and mercy and His purpose for my life. It’s about dishing on the latest style trends. It’s about chronicling beautiful family memories and milestones. It’s about recapping fun weekends and time with my girls. It’s about sharing my heart’s desire to be selfless in a selfish, fallen world.
Look around and stay awhile. And don’t be a stranger…come back & visit soon!
